BMW 335i: A Journey to Speed

Location: Klaipeda, Lithuania

Car: BMW 335i 2007, N54 3.0

Kazys Povilionis from Klaipeda, Lithuania, is not just a car enthusiast—he’s a man on a mission to push the boundaries of his BMW 335i. This 2007 model, with its robust N54 3.0 engine, isn't just a daily driver; it's a machine built for the drag strip. Kazys's dedication to transforming his car into a drag racing beast is nothing short of inspiring.

When Kazys brought his BMW N54 engine block and head to HCR, he had a clear vision. The N54 platform had its fair shareo of issues, like incorrect stud sizes, that were holding it back. But Kazys saw potential where others saw problems. He wanted to enhance the block's rigidity and overall performance, and he knew HCR could help him achieve that.

Why HCR?

The choice to work with HCR was driven by more than just convenience, although its geographical proximity was a definite plus. It was a conversation with Raitis that sealed the deal. Kazys found a partner in HCR—a company that shared his passion for innovation and problem-solving. Together, they embarked on an ambitious project to overhaul the engine's block and head, incorporating a closed deck, head porting, and firering head gaskets custom made by HCR.

The Process

The transformation wasn't an overnight success; it was a labor of love involving meticulous work and collaboration with other local experts. The project largely took shape in a home garage, with contributions from Laimonas Macevicius, who provided a Maxxecu tune and PnP kit, and Weld Affection in Klaipeda, which handled the turbo kit works. The goal was clear: make the car faster and more reliable.

The Results

The results speak for themselves. Kazys's BMW 335i now boasts over 1000 horsepower, clocking an impressive 8.48 seconds on the 1/4 mile and achieving 100-200 km/h in just 3.0 seconds. It's a testament to what can be achieved with the right team and a relentless drive to improve.

Looking Ahead

For Kazys and his BMW, the journey is far from over. The project is in a state of constant evolution, always aiming for better performance. The dream is to break into the 7-second range on the 1/4 mile, a goal that seems well within reach with HCR by his side.

A Word from Kazys

Kazys's experience with HCR has been so positive that he’s already recommending their services to others. The partnership has been one of mutual respect and shared enthusiasm, paving the way for continued success on the drag strip.
